The Move is On... (done)

Sigh!! What a relief, the 2nd big part of our move to China has completed. Despite there having been only one elevator in operation, though sparatically, we managed to luck out with sun and smooth moving operation out into our storage yesterday. The first elevator of the two went down over the weekend, as a fire in the control room on the roof melted the control panels. The second elevator has had issues, as it has to deal with 220 suites of residents and tenants, so it has been a bit spotty. To add to this craziness, our building saw the highest numbers of move-in and move-outs last week and this.

We used Van City movers, which were excellent by the way, and we managed not needing to lock the elevators at all, to allow residents to use it in between with minimal waits. Everything fit into our storage beautifully, it really is like a piece of art/puzzle :) Upon our return to the apartment, we found that the elevator #2 went down and was being operated manually from the control room by a technician, while another one was fixing it. Then at around 5:30pm, the second fire alarm of this 7 days went off. After trudging down the equivalent of 12 stories, and waiting for 1/2 hour before all was cleared for us to head back in, I made my slow ascent back up 12 stories. Usually it takes a couple of hours for the elevator to be put back on line. So J and I figured I would head out and pick him up to go out for dinner. But to our dismay, upon our return, the elevator was still out, and no ETA was posted. AAHHHH. So needless to say, I'm dead tired and sore, after days of packing, moving, and walking stairs. ZzzzzzZZzzzz.. huh?! oh yes, I should wrap up this post. 4 more days to go, patching/painting, cleaning, moving the remainder computers, and running errands are what's left for us to do.
